Fly swatter is available early in the game as well as easy to upgrade. The high accuracy make up with the damage loss as well as more consistent attack. Able to hit metal mob consistently helps in farming gold / rare item.
Wind set can be obtain easily and early in the game as well. The defense is not bad and the pinch falcon is a bonus. Since it is usable until end game, beginner can save their resource and concentrate on just 1 set of armour.

After Wind go for Momotaro/Warrior Momotaro and Goemon (low priority, only for farming last 2 bosses). To be honest right now nothing else is really worthwhile except for random fun or collection. Most of your gear variation will come from swapping shields: Immunity, Ice, Security, possibly Angel (Insomnia theoretically has a niche but I think you can ignore this).
Some people like Heck Queen but -6 ATK, -6 DEF, -15 HP, +30 crit rate +Insomnia, +Confusionproof hasn't proven to be a good trade vs Warrior Momotaro.
